With V4R4 you can define Filter Rules on the AS/400 via OpsNav.  In there you 
can
stop PING (ICMP requests) from going In, Out or Both.  *CAUTION* Do not try this
on your production system until you understand Filter rules and their behavior 
on
the AS/400!!!!

ps: Be carefull about getting your Network help from a DataBase guy!  ;-)

pps: As someone else mentioned, the best place to do this is at your firewall.
