I created a logical file on our ARFILE that has one line, it keys the file by check number. It works fine for me using UPDDTA ARFILECHK. I type the check number in and the record shows up. Someone else goes to use the logical by doing a UPDDTA ARFILECHK they type the check number in and get the error "this record contains invalid data". We are using the exact same logical (there is only one, and I even made sure it was the same one by adding the library it was in to the UPDDTA parameter), and this user has the same authority I do. I am going to do an IPL this evening (we do every friday) so maybe that will fix it. But... does anyone know what would cause this? And, yes, we are trying the same check number on both. In fact, I can do the UPDDTA and just scroll without entering a check number and see the fields, he does it, and every record is said to have invalid data. This is mighty confusing. We are on V3R7M0, perchance a bug?
