That is what i've seen too.  The reaction seeems to be one of pride that they are now main-stream.  Budgets magically mushroom and staff flourishes.  One company went from a mid-six figure budget to mid-seven figure budget  in 18 months and were so very proud of it...  I was, and am still, stunned by it.

i've seen more than one company that has switched from an ibm midrange,
to a p/c network, and then hired an in house person to manage it.  

you'd think they'd be furious about the expense, but it doesn't seem to
phase them..
