Hi All I've seen a few emails taling about NetServer and how wonderful it is, so I'm presuming a few people have been able to get it operational. I have spent a few hours combing the manuals, the websites etc etc. but cannot get it to do print serving. What I want to achieve is to share a few TCP attached printers using network neighbourhood and use the 400 to do it. I have managed to get file serving operational OK, but getting printer serving to work has completely eluded me. What I have done so far is: - Set up the net server parameters using Oops Navigator. The "server" name is different to my system name - Configured a printer for sharing - Checked that the outqueue is *PUBLIC *ALL to remove authority problems - Started Netserver manually when I want to use it - Found the Netserver under network neighbourhood - Clicked on the printer only to be told it is offline ! By way of trying to troubleshoot this I have narrowed down an apparent problem in the QWPSERVD job where I receive a message saying "Required Protocol not available" and then some other errors that I can't remember off the top of my head - I presume they are caused by the protocol error. I'm wondering first of all whether I need another protocol (IPX ???) to make all this work together, or whether it is a server/TCP startup issue. I can understand that it wouldn't start correctly first up if there was a problem with things being started up in the wrong order, but if I start NetServer manually (which I'm quite prepared to do until I know it's working) this shouldn't be a problem, should it ? I have also been investigating what order things should start up in to get TCP and the Servers started correctly. IBM seems to perhaps have some contradictions out there, so I have a minor susupicion that there may be a trick or two here to help me along the way. This is all on V4R4 by the way. Thanks in advance for any feedback !
