Here's an oldie but a goodie.
Do you ever and I mean ever want to allocate(*yes) on source files?
When we were converting our S/34 programs to the S/38, the IBM SE told us to
allocate the file space contiguously for all of our source files. He said
they noticed faster response time when editing a lot of source members.
Well, by lunch time we had the system at 99% disk usage. Needless to say,
we went to lunch and they IPLed the system to get enough space to change the
physical files back to allocate(*no) contiguous(*no).
