Here's an oldie but a goodie. Do you ever and I mean ever want to allocate(*yes) on source files? When we were converting our S/34 programs to the S/38, the IBM SE told us to allocate the file space contiguously for all of our source files. He said they noticed faster response time when editing a lot of source members. Well, by lunch time we had the system at 99% disk usage. Needless to say, we went to lunch and they IPLed the system to get enough space to change the physical files back to allocate(*no) contiguous(*no). +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: email@example.com +---
