IMPI stands for Internal MicroProgrammed Interface, which is the hardware
instruction set implemented in the chips on the CISC (white) AS/400 boxes.

An overview of the AS/400 architecture, including many of the acronyms
we've all been using so long that we don't know what they stand for any
