Here is my FTPINPUT file (which I use)
jlangstn somepass
put jimconex/spoolit.month9710
put ...
yada...yada...yada...
close
quit


As you can see, the user name and password must be on the same line.

It took me a little bit to work this out too.

And, yes, that is not my real password. <g>
