I used to experience variable corruption when using API's that return data as 
data structures. If I did not define the data structure length on the DS line 
(by letting it default to the length of the last entry in the data structure) 
then when the API filled the data structure, it would actually overflow into 
fields defined below the data structure and corrupt them! I couldn't believe 
it, but I called someone at midrange for help and they pointed it out to me. 
Putting in the length of the data structure solved the problem.
