Call me felixungerish but I am looking for the IBM softcopy manual that would have the CPFxxxx messages as its topic.  I know you can type WRKMSGF QCPFMSG and see all needed information for CPF messages, but is there an IBM manual for this as well?

No.

This manual was discontinued after the System/38.

There is a command DSPMONMSG in TAATOOL which will show every monitorable message for any AS/400 command, but it is based on IBM documentation which is not completely accurate.  As of V4R4, IBM has committed to put every monitorable message is documented in the help text.

Apparently, they have not delivered on this 100%, because we find missing ones all the time.
