If electrical power is gone it is almost certain that the MIS Staff will be focusing on their personal @home concerns Vs the AS/400. Doing commerce of any sort will be extremely difficult.

FWIW I do not expect to see long electrical outages. The outages, even short, remain problematical. IF the AS400s environment changes drastically , you should expect some sort of startup problems. My advice to clients is to include that thought in their Y2K DR plans. I am not particularly fond of alternative resource space heaters to keep thy DASD warm., and prefer to wait a few hours after the power is restored[ and stabilized through the massive turn-on electrical surges] and use supplemental electrical heaters.
