Linux for some time has had firewall code built into it. Pre 2.2 kernals used ipfrwadm for firewall setup. Newer distributions us ipchains. Have you tried linuxconf. I've found it takes about the same amount of time to config linux as it takes my cisc box to boot. My setup has a isdn line into the linux box then token ring to as400. This is not working yet as I have no token ring card for the 400 but works fine using a slip connection into the as/400 I know linux is a dirty word around some parts but it has it's place.
