Jeff, if I was you I would hang onto that machine as a backup...

We have a few machines (IBM AT's model 339) like that at our firm that we
added "Norton 2000" to. This program is a free download at www.norton.com
but we choose to purchase the corporate edition. It loads itself as the
first item in the CONFIG.SYS file and allows for error-free BIOS/CMOS
rollover to Year 2000.

I know this is slightly off-topic, but . . .

We have an IBM PC AT running DOS 3.3 receiving orders via phone from
handheld Telxons in grocery stores. This PC AT is connected to the
AS/400 via Twinax and PC Support (No, I don't mean Client Access, I mean
PC Support.)

This PC has been running totally unattended 7 x 24 x 365 for at least 10
years, maybe closer to 15. It has _never_ failed. And I mean not
once. The only time it has ever been shut off is during a power failure
and the UPS batteries ran dry. It still has the original hard drive,
motherboard, video, twinax card, voice board, everything, you name it.

Today it is being retired. It has long outlived the original set of
Telxon handhelds, and, with some of the other changes we made for Y2K
reasons, we decided to replace this as well before it became a problem.
It is being replaced by a Windows NT system. I defy this new system to
perform as well or last as long.

PC AT, RIP.

They just don't make 'em like they used to . . .
