Ed, It moves SMTP information from the auxiliary files to become part of directory entries. They appear as user-defined fields. One advantage is that it allows you to use SMTP addresses longer than 24 characters. Another advantage is that you can shadow entries to other AS/400 in multi-AS/400 environments. The main disadvantage is that you can no longer have personal aliases. In our environment it meant changing our AS/400 naming convention. In the long run it was worth it. If you, or anyone decides to do this I did write a program to automate the name conversion. It is pretty specific to our environment, but it might give you some ideas. In our case we matched user profiles, distribution names, and Novel/GroupWise profiles.
