2d Bar Codes

Has anyone got any experience of 2d Bar codes. How reliable are they which is 
the most reliable, how easy is it to get reader's. We want to use VB (Tal 
Technologies Bar Coding DLL's) to print them on customer's PC Printers on a 
Label, typically using inkjets, or low end laser's. These will then need
to be sent in and read at our offices and will end up on the AS400. The options 
for a 2d bar code, we have come across are

Aztec Code
Data Matrix
Maxi Code
PDF 417
