An alternative is to use ftp to submit a remote command on the unix box.

Create a script file containing the following:
open eunuchbox
user userid password
quote mycmdtorun
quit

Pipe this to FTP on the 400 with the following:
OVRDBF INPUT FROMFILE(FTPLIB/SCRIPTFILE)
OVRDBF OUTPUT FROMFILE(FTPLIB/OUTPUT)
FTP
DLTOVR INPUT
DLTOVR OUTPUT
CALL PGMA /* Analyze file OUTPUT to check to see if command was successful.

To try interactive, you can just type in FTP and enter the script commands one
at a time.

Subject: STRUNXCMD

We have been using the STRUNXCMD for a few years now to start a job on a
remote RS/6000. We moved the application that uses the command to another
AS/400 in our shop and it will no longer work. Both machines are at 4.3. A
call to IBM informed us that this was no longer supported. They suggested
we look into Client Access for Unix. What other options are people using?

Thanks,
