V4R4: AFP Overlays, Query/38, Backups - FAILING

Ken and others:

Again I apologize, but I don't remember which PTF's I had to download, since
I had so many problems on 7/6/99 when I when to V4R4.  But if you contact
the AS/400 Support Line  they know about both problems (backups not backing
up certain files, and AFP overlays not working) and can give you the PTF
numbers.

The PTF for fixing backups not backing came out last week, the work around
was to DSPFD of the file not being backed up, and then it would back up.
Weird?

The AFP overlays not printing could only be fixed via the PTF that I can't
remember.

The Query/38 failing problem, doesn't have a PTF yet, all you can do is
CRTQRYAPP xxxx *SAVDFN, etc. and go back later and recreate with
OPTIMIZE(*NO) for those that might have "division by zero" as a problem when
it executes.  If you can remember which ones do that.  Thankfully, due to so
many mass recompiles via Hawkeye/Pathfinder over the years I've sort of
memorized all the ones I need to go back and recompile with OPTIMIZE(*NO).

If necessary, I will call the Support Line and get the specific PTF number
that were involved for these problems.
Another reason for not remembering is that I have been downloading since
7/6/99 several dozen for WebSphere, NetData, HTTP, JAVA, NetCommerce,
VisualAge for Java, etc.  I guess you can figure out what I'll be doing for
the rest of my life.

But part of the problem with me calling the Support Line, is that I don't
have a contract with them yet.  I will in mid-August when we switch over to
a Model 720 from the present Model 500.   And I'm already, or a least trying
to, fight with them about some invoices I receive 6/28/99 for calls I made
in mid-April.  One of them is for $728.17, still can't find anyone at IBM he
can explain it to me or that I can contest it with.  And I of course would
like to know why it took two and a half months, maybe it's by design.

And by the way, I wish you could see the E-Mail I sent to IBM  expressing my
thoughts on the above and several other concerns, but "discretion is the
better part of valor".
