Paul, >You can execute the command CHGS36 from a command line on the native AS/400 side of the machine. This command brings you to a menu panel that allows you to adjust certain configuration variables pertaining to your S/36 environment. Choose the printer related selection and you will be brought to a screen with a chart showing the links between S/36 printer designations (P1, P2, etc.) and their equivalent native AS/400 names. You will need to add a new link between a S/36 printer definition and the native AS/400 name for your new 4224 printer. > >After you have performed this step, you should be able to start the writer in the S/36 environment. I reread your msg before I went to the client and realized that the command you mentioned above is CHGS36, which is for the 36EE, not *M36. Assuming you meant CHGM36, I did that and saw that the new printer was configured, pointing to the device (PRT03) on the /400 side. There are no /400 writers active (although when I did activate one and send it a spool it printed!) BTW, this is a 4224-1E. What type should it be configured on the /36 side? I tried IPDS and 4224-2. I applied regular PTFs, although I couldn't do the MCODE PTFs. I'm still getting the /36 msg that the writer can't access the printer.
