Jeff,  the statement "the savf must exist" is not entirely true.  I ftp
save files to my 400 all the time
without creating the save file first. Just one more step is needed:

ftp>bin
ftp>quote site namefmt 1
the last step allows you to
ftp> \put savefile.savf /qsys.lib/librabry.LIB/savefile.SAVF
or cd to that lib first then just - put savefile.savf

I think it is much cleaner.

Careful,

        For a SAVF to be FTP'ed it must exist as a SAVF on the target
system
so be sure your CODE is doing a QUOTE CMD to build the SAVF you are going
to
put the data into...
