     Yes, very easily!  Our company sends & receives automated AS/400 eMail
every day.  Try the AS/400 commands:

        SNDDST - Send a mail message
        QRYDST - Check for mail messages (make sure that 
                          your mailbox's preferred address 
                          is Userid/Address in the directory entry)
        RCVDST - Read a mail message

     Received documents are stored in the Integrated File System in directory:
 
          \QTCPMM\MAIL\mailbox\jw123456.not   (for example)

     You don't know whether you are connected to the Internet???

     Try the AS/400 Commands:

         PING - Validate TCP/IP communications, for example:
      
                   PING RMTSYS(WWW.IBM.COM)
