Dear Mark,

You can execute the command CHGS36 from a command line on the native AS/400 
side of the machine. This command brings you to a menu panel that allows you to 
adjust certain configuration variables pertaining to your S/36 environment. 
Choose the printer related selection and you will be brought to a screen with a 
chart showing the links between S/36 printer designations (P1, P2, etc.) and 
their equivalent native AS/400 names. You will need to add a new link between a 
S/36 printer definition and the native AS/400 name for your new 4224 printer.

After you have performed this step, you should be able to start the writer in 
the S/36 environment.

Subject:        Printing from *M36

I have a client w/ a model 150.  They are running in the *M36 and would like to 
attach a 4224 printer.  I think it's a model 1E.  They are twinax attached.
It auto-configures (on the /400 side) as *IPDS. If I start a writer from the 
/400 I can print.  On the /36 side I tried defining it as PB and *IPDS (PH?).  
I just get a msg stating that the print writer is not available ( 0 2 ).  There 
are 2 other printers (4214 types) that are working fine.  
There are a total of 14 devices defined (including this printer.)  Am I missing 
some PTF?  TIA.
