**Begin Quote** I was looking at going from V3R7 to V4R4, and have been told that this is a two stage process: I was told that I need to go from V3R7 to V4R3, then go from V4R3 to V4R4. Can anyone confirm or deny this story? **End quote** Unfortunately you are correct, IBM does not at this time support a CISC to RISC upgrade to V4R4. (V3Rx to V4R4). According to the documentation, you must go to V4R3 first. The real problem is with two things, first security. You will have to manually move all of your user profiles etc over to the new box, and you must make sure the authorities are on the application and database objects when you restore and re-encapsulate them. Secondly, you will be responsible for moving any user (read non-IBM) objects from QUSRSYS and QGPL to the new box. While this will be a real pain, my testing shows that it can be done. The biggest problem is you cannot use the roadmap. It's a good guide as to what should be done, but there is no direct upgrade path. If all you have put in QGPL and QUSRSYS are the objects that IBM creates for user profiles, job descriptions, ect. then you should be able to map out a project to get it done. I just started a conversion from V3R2 to V4R4 today and so far it looks doable. We shall see!!!!
