What should the to directory be in this example? -----Original Message----- From: bvining@vnet.ibm.com [mailto:bvining@vnet.ibm.com] Sent: Thursday, June 10, 1999 7:12 PM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: How to translate characters from english to Latvian Colin, Rather than using CPYTOPCD (which is table based and there is no table for English to Latvian Windows CP), I would suggest using the CPY command (which is CCSID based). If you have a file such as VINING/TESTF member TEST which is CCSID tagged 37, and want to copy it to a stream file in CCSID 1257 (Windows Baltic Rim), the the following should work: CPY OBJ('/QSYS.LIB/VINING.LIB/TESTF.FILE/TEST.MBR') TOOBJ('/test') FROMCODPAG(37) TOCODEPAGE(1257) DTAFMT(*TEXT) As a word of warning, I first tried the above using a file tagged 285 (UK English) and discovered there is no mapping shipped with the system for 285 to 1257 (there are 68 285 to xxx mappings standard in a V4R3 system, but 1257 isn't one of them...); and so used 37. You may also want to use 37 for this copy operation. Bruce Vining > >I am copying some data from an AS/400 file to a PC file. The PC is in >Latvia.
