Dear Gerald,

As long as the IPDS file is not too complex, the AS/400 will be able to send
the file to an SCS printer. The text will be printed correctly and the bar
codes (or other IPDS attributes) will be removed. You will receive
informational messages that certain spool file characteristics were not
supported by the target device.

If the IPDS spool file is very complex (example: electronic form created with
Overlay and image objects), it is quite likely the AS/400 will hold the spool
file and QSYSOPR will have a message that attributes were not supported by
target device.

Hope this helps.

/Paul

Subject: IPDS to SCS conversion

Is there a way to take an IPDS printer file and convert it so it can print on
an SCS printer? Obviously I will need to condition barcodes or other IPDS
features in my RPG program to not go to the spool file.
Will a CPYSPLF work?
If a CPYSPLF will work, and I left Barcodes in the spool file what happens?
