Roger-Why not go to www.midrange.com and search the archives? I just
went there for curiosity's sake, entered 'date simulator' in the search
window and got back several previous postings on the subject.

        Subject: Date Simulators

        Please... HELP!!

I have been working the last few days on reviewing the "IBM Y2K
Testing
and the AS/400 System Date" document and analyzing the potential
ramifications for our testing effort. This effort has been a
result of
a decision by our company to test the uncommon software used by
one of
our remote divisions... right smack dab on the Production
AS/400... by
setting the system date forward (and then back again after
testing). A
decision has been handed down today to scrap that effort (thank
goodness) and IMMEDIATELY get a date simulator to assist in our
testing
        effort.

I have seen many posts regarding these products in the past, but
have
not kept the information due to our companies lack of desire to
spend
any time looking into this as a viable option. Now I find
myself in a
position in which I need to collect as much information about
date
simulator products as possible... as fast as possible. I am
leaving
today for this remote division to put together a test plan and
needless
to say I hope to be armed with at least a bit of knowledge.

Sorry for the long intro... but I would be tremendously grateful
if
anyone could provide some feedback as to the effectiveness and
dangers
of the use of date simulators for Y2K testing... and perhaps
relate any
experiences (good or bad) with any of these products.

Now I am off to the web to download Simdate and start setting it
up as
        requested by the higher ups.

Thank you a hundred times over for any information provided...
And then thank you a hundred times more!
