O.K., so maybe I fudged a bit on "needing" it.  I don't "need" to
do this with an API, but it sure would be easier and faster.  Which
is why I really can't push harder than I have already ("if you can
do it without the API, then that'll be good enough").  Good point
on the legality as well; I had forgotten to consider that, even
though everybody's licensed to use it.  Oh well.
