RE: Number of System Admin Needed to Support AS/400's

Bob I'm an SA for a hospital system with 5 production and 1 dev system. We
have approx 2700 desktops.(We count desktops since we have a large number of
shared PCs.) I have a partner who handles our security related issues and a
couple of other items. I handle the rest of the non application issues,
Cfg's, Performance, Ugrades, Backups  and the rest of the "SYSTEM" related
stuff. We a programming staff and several analysts that handle the
applications.

"I F" the systems are stable and cfg'd the same (HW and SW) and there's
other PROGRAMMING support staff, 2 should do the trick. If you're
environment is extremely stable(cookie cutter setup and lots a good admin
tools) you might get by with "1" but then there are vacations, training and
?? to cover.

I currently have 14  AS/400 Model 170 Servers with 1100 users. I need to
know
how many SA's I should budget to support these AS/400's. Does anyone know of
a model or any other method to figure out the number of support people that

need?
