I do both. The standard package does change frequently and does use new OS
features. However, I'm not doing much of the coding on my machine because
there isn't enough room or horsepower. Because the 400 is good at backward
capability, the same old dial in works pretty much as it always has, even on
the newer machines. As far as custom work goes, it's about half and half. The
basics get developed on my machine to a unit-tested form, and then they get
moved to the client box so they can test at their leisure prior to production.
Small jobs oftentimes get coded directly on the client processor.

Urrr - I don't know what you are referring to. I do happen to understand a
little about the AS/400 database.

It can be. In my case, because of a new product I've developed, I need a
machine with upgraded capabilities. In the past, it was pretty much just dial
up. Now, I expect to be pumping 10GB databases on and off the system rather
frequently.
