RE: Number of installed AS/400s

550,000, eh?

I wonder, being the cynical person that I am, how many of those "installed"
AS/400s are still running.  Does this number include all AS/400s ever
installed, including ones that have been replaced by newer models and
subsequently discarded?  

And then there's the question of whether a single AS/400 can be counted
multiple times by being installed at one site, replaced by a newer model,
installed at another site, and so on.  

Don't get me wrong folks.  I'd like to believe that number, but the use of
the word "installed" rather than "operating" makes me very suspicious.
