I created a CLP call CRTVOBJD that returns the text description and
library name.

CRTVOBJD:   PGM        PARM(&OBJ &LIB &OBJTYPE &TEXT) /* Retrieve +
                         object text description */                
                                                                   
            DCL        VAR(&OBJ) TYPE(*CHAR) LEN(10)               
            DCL        VAR(&LIB) TYPE(*CHAR) LEN(10)               
            DCL        VAR(&OBJTYPE) TYPE(*CHAR) LEN(10)           
            DCL        VAR(&TEXT) TYPE(*CHAR) LEN(50)              
                                                                   
            RTVOBJD    OBJ(&LIB/&OBJ) OBJTYPE(&OBJTYPE) +          
                         RTNLIB(&LIB) OBJATR(&OBJTYPE) TEXT(&TEXT) 
            MONMSG     MSGID(CPF0000) EXEC(CHGVAR VAR(&LIB) +      
                         VALUE('          '))                      
                                                                   
            ENDPGM                                                 

Call it from any program and if the library name returned is blank, then
the object is not found.
