You can already do this.  The name of the pointer used to base a structure
cannot be changed, but its content can be changed anytime you want which
achieves exactly the same thing.  You can also do math on the pointer e.g.

 Eval Pointer = Pointer + 12

What specific limitations have you encountered ?
