Ken -- Not that I'm an ardent defender of RPG ... (Okay ... I don't like it ...) BUT ... Using RPG to develop some specialized CGI is NOT only "do-able", but in some cases a GOOD IDEA. For example, it's not difficult to write an RPG (ILE) program to send data right into an Excel spreadsheet. That is, you can use RPG to supply AS/400 data to an Excel spreadsheet. In this particular case, the context is pre-defined, so the limitations you mention are nil. Also, this uses an existing skill set -- RPG programming -- and leverages it to deliver data to the desktop. In an "all AS/400" shop, this is an excellent idea. Otherwise ... I hear ya, brother.
