Well, I can think of several reasons, why it could happen. When IPLed to command line I would look at history log of previous IPLs to find out what caused the problem (DSPLOG command). Then I would know exactly how to amend it. If you do not have enough experience to understand history log, I would suggest: - check QAUTOCFG system value - you want it to be 1(on) - WRKSYSVAL QAUTOCFG, then 5 to display, 2 to change. - check QKBDTYPE system value - make it USB just in case - I've seen strange things happen for some combinations of this system value and physical device attached. - when IPLed in debug mode, console is using QCTL controller description and QCONSOLE device description. Use command WRKCFGSTS *CTL *LWS. It will show all local display controller decriptions with subordinate device descriptions. All should be VARIED OFF, except for QCTL/QCONSOLE. (If not, vary everything off - except QCTL/QCONSOLE - option 2) Then from the same WRKCFGSTS screen delete all controller and device descriptions - use option 8 to get to description, then option 4 to delete. Then try normal IPL - system should be able to recreate all necessary configuration objects. Thank you Alexey, Please Can you suggest some commands to try out-Im not experianced enough to go and find the problem at the command line--if you can give me some to try out,I will learn quickly--I have been doing VB Client server programs as a job-mostly screen scraping and have been fortunate enough to get a model 200 for home use to learn on cheers Dave ---------- > From: pytel@us.ibm.com > To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com > Subject: Re: more help is required please-Model 200 problem--how do I getout of trouble? > Date: Saturday, 8 May 1999 03:35 > > First, forced power down from panel is always safe. > It's not "normal" power down, but all data is saved or at least put to > recoverable state. > > There is a procedure described in software installation manual, how to recover > from A9002000 code. > In short, you need to IPL with console in debug mode. > When IPLing in attended mode, before choosing "Perform IPL", go to DST, then DST > environment, then choose "console in debug mode".
