John,
Since you do not know which library the called program was run from,
you can use the QUSLOBJ API (DSPOBJD) specifying *ALLUSR for your
library.  This will return a list of all of the object with the requested
name and use the OBJL0100 format position 10 length 10.

That is the only way I can think of.
