Dave:

Some time ago I had some SERIOUS problems with EMC drives durring an upgrade
from CISC to RISC.

It's a very long story, but the short version is: Objects were going
dammaged for no apparernt reason and the ultimate reason was found to
be a Microcode incompatiblity between the RISC system and the older
EMC drives.

We had a VLIC programmer on our system (via ECS) to debug the drive
access code to determine when and where the objects were going
dammaged.

EMC upgraded the drives to newer versions for free and everything started
working.

We were 100% out of commission for 1+ week and it was loke pulling teath
to get EMC to admit they had a problem.

I won't use EMC drives ever again.
