I can't give BRMS enough praise... It is the premier B/U recovery product
for the AS/400.
I've used several different BU recovery/System Management products for the
S/38 and AS/400 since
1984... They all looked really good when I first installed them, but their
shortcoming was that they didn't
keep up with the new changes added to OS/400. They were always at least a
release behind in implementing
new function. BRMS is developed in Rochester and so is included in all the
new BU recovery
development that occurs there. New releases of OS/400 and BRMS/400 are
delivered at the same time.
Also, BRMS is currently the only package I know of that has implemented
HSM...
I have recovered my 300GB system twice using BRMS. Once at a disaster
recovery site and again as part of
a system upgrade (we added 22 disk drives and 2GB of RAM to our 530-2153).
Once the restore process
began all I had to do is sit back and watch it happen. It was truly an
automated process!
IMHO, you will not make a mistake choosing BRMS as your B/U Recovery
solution.

Subject: Backup and Recovery
Hi,
Anyone got any suggestions for Backup and Recovery software. Currently, we
have a home
grown application that is slowly becoming trouble. At one point we were
looking at BRMS.
If anyone has any praise or compaints about BRMS or other software please
reply. Also,
a big hello to all the Midranger's I met at Common.
