We're having a bit of a problem with the amount of "unprotected" storage that our production system is consuming. We IPL once every 4 weeks, always on a Sunday. Just before our last IPL, WRKSYSSTS showed our "Current unprotect used" at over 20 GB, on a system with only 54 GB of DASD total. Needless to say, we were flirting with the storage threshold. After the IPL, the number was back down around 1 GB, which is about what we had historically averaged on our RISC systems, both development and production. It crept up through the week, though, and stood at about 4.5 GB on Friday. Today, it's up to 8.25 GB, and rising slowly but steadily. I've looked at user jobs for stuff building up in QTEMP, but haven't found anything out of the ordinary. I'm wondering if there's one or more system jobs which could be building temporary objects and thereby eating disk space, but I'm not sure how to systematically look for them. Has anyone seen anything like this before, or have any suggestions on where to look for the cause? We're a 24x7 shop, so we're reluctant to add more IPL's simply to combat this issue, although if we have to we'll do it. System info: S20 model 2177 (4-way mixed-mode server) 1 GB main storage, 54 GB aux storage, V4R2, cume level C9068420 (latest), HIPER's as of 3/30/99.
