On interactive display using a screen of DDS type "record," user inputs info. Upon completion, user presses designated F key for submit of field entries: RPG program chains to file, to determine whether a record already exists. The display record is then READ, and depending on outcome of earlier chain (i.e. indicator status), either WRITE or UPDATE to file is to be performed. The problem I am having is that at the READ instruction, the program "hangs," displays the screen record and essentially "waits" for further keyboard response before continuing. Otherwise, and afterwardss program concludes fine, but this display "hang" is bothersome and potentially confusing to a user (i.e. they may have no idea what it happening and may be waiting for the system to come back with some message). I imagine it has something to do with a DDS keyword, but I have tried all kinds of keywords and combinations and have so far had no success with eliminating this problem!!! $%^@# (The read is "error-free," i.e. check of indicators.) Has anyone else had a problem of this nature? Any ideas or suggestions? David Stobberingh Nationwide Credit, Inc.
