Many people have wondered why 99099 or 99/9/9 could be problematice. The assumption is that 99999 or 99/99/99 would be used. But, most data entry programs have logic that reject 99999 as a invalid Julian day and 99/99/99 as an invalid date. 99099 an 99/9/9 are both accepted as valid dates (they are !) and that is why they are used instead of (the more 'natural' 99999 and 99/99/99) ----- Original Message ----- From: Glenn Ericson <Glenn-Ericson@att.net> To: <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> Sent: Saturday, April 10, 1999 7:48 AM Subject: Re: Y2K countdown Dennis the nearest I can see is Julian 99099. On the other hand creative IS people have used 99999 or the likes in date fields for special purposes- - such as it ain't never going to expire or go away. There is some amazing stuff out there.
