Nearly a tie between Allen Stuart and Dave Kahn, but Dave gets the sixer because Stuart didn't suggest a lanuage: Stuart's reply: How about a program containing just null? It's source would also be a null! Not telling it to display anything would mean it displays null..... Not quite as specific as the judges would like! Dave hammered away at the problem and came up with a NULL CL program. That is exactly what Bruce Lesnick did. Try it, a null CL program will compile--it won't in many other languages (such as RPG). Congratulations, Dave. I owe you six cold ones. I'm good for 'em, too. What's your address? rp PS: I must say I'm a little disappointed in you guys. I know you are a sharp bunch, but I had hoped for this little thing to go one for a day or so until you all forgot your never-ending I-love-the-cycle, I-hate-the-cycle ranting and raving. Hey, did anyone hear that IBM is replacing RPG with Java...very soon now... and have you heard that tests show that GUI is the better data entry model than green-screen... yep, tests proved it... and did you hear the one about NT scaling better than the AS/400... or that ILE RPG is soooooo much better than RPG/400... SNA is dead...CA/400 doesn't really suck...network stations will replace PCs in September, worldwide, by NATO mandate... all AS/400 managers are short doughy guys with bad breath... while indicators are generally regarded as bad, it is a proven fact that if you use indicator 59 in your RPG programs (anywhere!) they will compile faster and perform better (no truth to the rumor that indicator 23 is the so-called "Lightning Indicator")... isn't there something else we can argue about now? +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
