Chuck, ADSM lives and dies by the "incremental ONLY" backup. Without too much detail, the /400 applications we are used to, normally require "point in time" backups for recovery. With ADSM, once a file is backed up, if it never changes it will NEVER be backed up. Much different way of thinking. It works great for desk tops and also file and print. But for application business data, I'll pass. As for BRMS without ADSM, no problemo. IBM just used the API's of ADSM to try to sell more copies of BRMS. Problem is, that causes the /400 to be the only (well almost) platform that has a different interface and paradyme. Normal save restore works much better and is safer.> Why's this (i.e. not using ADSM with BRMS) or can't you use BRMS without ADSM (pardon my ignorance - just wondering !) ?
