Hi, Lurton: >I think we are talking about 2 different issues here. >1 is the Linux version that is free and 2 is the commercial version (IBM-Red >Hat). What is good about 1 may not be true of 2. No, Linux is free, free, free. The Red Hat and Slackware and S.u.S.E. products are DISTRIBUTIONS, rather than versions of Linux, and each provides some sort of benefits (in terms of config utilities, other products, etc) that they think will be attractive, and they are charging for distribution and documentation only. Hope that clears that up. -- Dennis Lovelady Simpsonville, SC mail: dennis@lovelady.com URL: http://lovelady.piedmont.net ICQ: 5734860 -- "I have found the best way to give advice to your children is to find out what they want and then advise them to do it." - Harry S Truman +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
