Why? The cost of licensing the software, energy and
maintenance it would
make it much cheaper to buy a fast 170. (This of course
negates the value
of speed and residual value.) IBM has 0% financing this
year to incent
                purchases before Y2K.

See my White Paper from IBM. If they can't find a copy
(you know they run
their systems on /390 outdated, unreliable hardware), I
will e-mail you a
copy with a .PDF file of somewhat updated prices (not
100%, but good enough
to sell management). IF YOU E-MAIL ME, USE MY PRIVATE
E-MAIL ADDRESS IN
THE SIGNATURE OF THIS PAGE. OTHERWISE YOU RUN THE RISK
THAT I MAY NOT
RESPOND. E-MAILS TO MY PRIVATE ADDRESS ARE RESPONDED TO
QUICKLY.
(Midrange-l, as much as I love it.) doesn't always get
read, because
                there's a lot of it.

You might even suggest to IBM that they update my white
paper, but it would
seem that they are to interested in green paper and the
almightily stock
price to make this investment. (God forbid they might
sell more hardware!)
