I agree. Snads is outdated. FTP is the protocol of the future.

Actually, I don't find that they are missing much.  One of my clients
has been on the internet for almost a decade.  Wrote their own web
server for the 400 years before IBM got the word.  Anyway, they used,
and still use, ftp.  That takes care of sndnetf.

Remote printers?  They use LPD.  That takes care of sndnetsplf.

Messages?  Sndnetmsg?   Forget that.  There is this new, wonderful thing
called e-mail.  That's right, for only 6 to 10 lines of code, you too
can open the port for e-mail and send the messages to a list of
recipients.  The amount of free-code floating around to do this is
nothing short of phenomenal.  I even have a java class file that does
this.  Oh, yeah, it works from the 400 too.

Yeah, but why clutter up TCP with all that SNA stuff?  (ps. before the
hate mail arrives, just understand, like OS/2, SNA is technically tops,
can't be beat.  Just, no one is using it!)

And in TCP, you do it now.  You don't have to go and receive it.  FTP
puts it there now.
