The issue of turning a clock back on an AS/400 as a way to get around
the Y2K problem has been discussed in great depth on different
newsgroups and lists that I participate in. It always comes back to the
fact that there are a LOT of issues and problems with doing that and it
may be more work than converting the code to Y2K compliancy. It's
definitely not a "silver bullet"!

If you have unmodified MAPICS II, I'd think seriously about upgrading to
MAPICS/DB or XA. I know that they are Y2K compliant. If it is
modified, then you have a serious problem with little time left. Get a
consultant that knows MAPICS well and get started, whether it's
converting the code or upgrading.
