How about WRKNETTBLE. You would need to output to a spool file, copy it to a
physical file and read it but it may give you what you need.

Let's see if I can explain this for everyone. What if....what if....now

I'm not saying I'll actually do this, this is only a what if...OK?

Alright then! What if I had a PC application that wanted to FTP
something to an AS/400. And what if...I wanted to create the FTP script
ON the AS/400. One of the things I'd need to know, to put in the PC's
FTP script, would be the IP address (or the host table name, I'm not
picky), of the AS/400 itself. Sure, I could look this up and hard code
it, but what if I wanted to propagate this technique to multiple
AS/400's? I wouldn't want to look all of those IP addresses up each
time. And...yes...I know I could FTP on the AS/400 to get the file from

the PC. However, that's not what I'm looking for. I just want to know
if there is a way to get the IP address of the AS/400, not the devices,
using some AS/400 command, or API. I could then load that IP address
into an FTP script and move the actual script to the PC where it could
be ran at some future time. Ah ha! Now you're catching on! ha!

OK, I hope that clears up the confusion for everyone. There may not even

be a way to do this. I haven't had time to look into it at all. It's
just something that came up at a client site today and I thought I'd
post the question here since there are so many great AS/400 people out
here on this forum.

Thanks for any assistance you might have. If we don't come up with an
answer, it's no biggie. I'll either figure it out or not. If I do, I'll

be sure to let everyone know!

Thanks!
