Is there a significant performance difference between doing >this in an array and a subfile? Probably not. The average number of subfile accesses compares favourably with loading the next page of an expanding subfile. The array method is fairly compute intensive. It could well pay to use a binary search on the array, actually. My guess is that both methods would give you an excellent response time, especially following the horrific original subfile load, and the user probably would not be able to tell the difference. Personally I prefer the binary chop directly in the subfile as the array is not really necessary.
