It *is* IBM's stated direction to continue to add funtionality through the SQL
interface and not necessarily back through the DDS interface.

Is this a good choice?  Well, if you work on *any* other database, you use SQL 
DDL
statements to create the tables, views and indexes.  Why not have the same 
common
interface?

Is it good to leave it out of DDS?  IMHO, no, but at the same time, I am not 
*too*
upset to see IBM pushing people towards the SQL interface.  It simplifies *my* 
job.

You know, just because you did it that way in the past...  ;-)
