I forgot to explain how to use this. From a command line (or in a CL)
execute this command.

JAVA CLASS('/Directory/AccessURL')
     PARM('http://www.company.com/startjob.asp')
     CLASSPATH('/Directory')

Remember java is case sensitive, so watch your case. Also, you NEED to
include the http:// part or the URL object doesn't know what to do.

OK guys. Here is the code to access a web page on another server. Presumably
the page accessed would be an ASP page (or other CGI-like page) that did
something. I haven't tried compiling this code on the 400, I compile on the
PC and upload the class file. I used this exact code and a short ASP program
on my webserver to start Excel from the AS/400. Neat, but useless.

Dennis, I hope this fits your need.

-Walden

-------------------   Start Code ----------------
import java.net.*;
import java.io.*;

public class AccessURL {
public static void main(String[] args)
{
try
{
        URL u = new URL(args[0]);
        BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(
                new InputStreamReader(u.openStream()));
        String line;
        in.readLine(); //Force page access
} //End try
catch (Exception e)
{
        System.out.println("Error " + e);
} //End catch
} //End main
} //End class

-------------------   End Code ----------------
