  • Subject: *** Midrange Poll *** "Remote Access" Respondents !!

Hello Folks !

To those of you who responded to the recent Midrange-L poll "How do you provide remote access to AS/400's" (suggested somewhat "selfishly" by me <G>) I am VERY interested in talking with those of you who responded in the categories of:

(1) "Internet with firewall security" (13 of you folks doing this)

(2) "Internet without firewall security" (2 of you folks doing this)

to hear exactly what you are doing, why you chose it, etc. and any regrets or updates.

I work for a fairly small company and we are trying to find the BEST way to get a one state sales force, employees and at some point customers, into our AS/400. We are using the Synapse product and it works great, but we are looking at "scaling" this. Phone lines are obviously and issue, as well as long distance calling and I got to thinking it could make a LOT more sense (for a NUMBER of reasons !) to let an ISP handle that part of the communications.

Desperately wanting to hear from you folks (how's THAT for begging) and you can get me off line at CLEWIS@IQUEST.NET !!

Thanks in advance !!!

Chuck
