  • Subject: Autostart Job with "Delay/Repeat" (QSYSMSG into a Data Base file !!!)

Hi Folks,

I assume everyone is aware that you can create a message queue called
QSYSMSG and all "system related" messages will go there rather than the
more "cluttered" QSYSOPR ?

I've written programs to turn QSYSMSG into a database file for reporting
purposes (i.e. you don't have to constantly be looking at it to see
things). Currently it notifies I.S. staff of Devices varied off. It is
also setup so it can ignore certain messages (i.e "Program start request
received...") AND so it WILL notify you to check on any messages it
hasn't seen before or been told how to handle (i.e. disk problems, etc.)
so NONE are missed !

I would like to set this up as an AUTOSTART job (currently it runs every
5 minutes under Robot but it can get delayed at times in the jobq - even
though it IS in a "minimum traffic" jobq...).

My question is on how to code the CL for Autostart job and how it
behaves...

If I have a CL that "does its' thing" from PGM to ENDPGM will it
automatically start again ? If so I CAN put a delay job in for the 5
minute deal ?

Thanks !

Chuck
